The development of Saudi Arabia's chess policy has become a significant focus in recent times. The Kingdom has taken important steps to promote chess, including hosting the Asia Chess Cup and launching the Chess Club League in coordination with the Ministry of Sports. Additionally, the Chess School League was introduced in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

The organization of the Jeddah  International Youth Chess Festival has emerged as a prominent event within this growing interest to support global chess events, intellectual sports, placing Jeddah on the map as a global destination for chess events catering to youth and children under 18.

This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming to enhance intellectual and cultural activities, providing a supportive environment for sporting and intellectual talents. The Jeddah Festival is expected to serve as a platform to showcase the skills and talents of the Kingdom's youth, contributing to the growth of youth participation and the chess community in the country. Scheduled to take place from January 24 to 30, 2024, the Jeddah International Youth Chess Festival includes a diverse range of exciting events. This encompasses the International Youth Masters Tournament and the Arabian Karpov Cup, along with educational workshops conducted by chess experts Roman Edward and Abdul Salam Sami. These lessons not only provide opportunities for developing chess skills but also delve deep into the psychological aspects of the game, enhancing the overall chess experience for participants.
